The Foundation endowed the Leon Levy Director of the Brain and Body Research Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2022. Scott Russo, PhD, holds the position. Dr. Russo is known for his contributions to understanding the neural and immunological basis of neuropsychiatric disorders. The Center takes a multidisciplinary approach to influence research and collaborate on how the brain and body interact with disease.
From 2015 to 2023, the Foundation supported 19 Leon Levy Fellowships in Neuroscience under the leadership of Eric Nestler. The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai hosted the Leon Levy Symposium in Neuroscience in 2016. Today, postdocs from Mount Sinai are eligible for the independently-awarded Leon Levy Scholarships in Neuroscience.
