Launched with lead support from the Foundation, the Jewish Material Culture initiative at Bard Graduate Center has brought greater visibility to scholarship focused on Jewish material culture from the ancient world to the present. Every year the program invites a visiting scholar to deliver a series of three public lectures, which will culminate in a publication in BGC’s book series, Cultural Histories of the Material World.
Bard Graduate Center, founded by Dr. Susan Weber in 1993, is the preeminent institute for academic research and exhibition of decorative arts, design history, and material culture. BGC is an accredited unit of Bard College and a member of the Association of Research Institutes in Art History.
