Since 2004, the Foundation has been a leading supporter of the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), a museum of living plant collections, comprehensive education programs, and wide-ranging research. The Leon Levy Visitor Center at the Garden’s main entrance greets thousands of visitors a year. A short walk from the Center is another signature project, the Native Plant Garden. This quiet oasis of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, ferns, and grasses, planted in a carefully planned contemporary design, was inspired by the Foundation’s commitment to the preservation and proliferation of native plants and habitats. The Foundation has long supported the Garden’s extensive horticulture and exhibition programs on an annual basis, and recently gave a multi-year grant for a project in the NYBG Archives, housed under the LuEsther T. Mertz Library.
