Dr. Kim received her A.B. at Princeton University, graduating with the Crecca ’46 Prize in Molecular Biology through her thesis work with Dr. Elizabeth Gavis. She then pursued an M.D./Ph.D. at Columbia University, with her doctoral work on the molecular metabolism in rodent models of diabetes with Dr. Lori Sussel. She conducted additional studies with Drs. Domenico Accili and Laurel Mayer, applying her training in metabolism to clinical research in anorexia nervosa, and she graduated with the Doctors Nastuk, Seegal, and Hsu Award for Research. As a psychiatry resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Dr. Kim is pursuing research with Drs. Tom Hildebrandt and Mercedes Perez and maintains a metabolic framework in thinking about psychiatric illnesses, as dysregulated neural and peripheral metabolism may be central to improving clinical outcomes. Outside of research, she has won national recognition for leadership in residency as one of the 10 APA/APAF Leadership Fellows 2019-2021 and has served on the APA Council on Quality Care.
